The Benefits of Equine Bodywork
Balanced bodies move better, feel better, and perform with greater willingness.
Horses are designed to move freely and efficiently, but training, riding, repetitive movement, injury, and everyday wear can create tension and imbalance within the body over time.
Because true symmetry does not exist in nature for the human or equine body, recognizing areas of muscular restriction, overdevelopment, or compensation is essential to supporting proper movement and long-term wellness.
Bodywork is essential to help release tension, improve flexibility and range of motion, encourage relaxation, and support healthier movement patterns throughout the body.
Bodywork can help:
Improve flexibility and mobility
Reduce muscular tension and soreness
Support injury prevention and recovery
Encourage relaxation and nervous system regulation
Promote whole body balance
Every Artios Bodywork session is tailored to the needs of the individual.
Meet Sarah
Sarah McRae Thrasher is a Certified Equine Massage Therapist dedicated to improving the health, comfort, and performance of horses through thoughtful, individualized care.
With more than 40 years of horsemanship experience in competing, breeding, and training, Sarah brings a deep understanding of equine anatomy, biomechanics, and movement to every session. As an athlete herself, she understands the physical demands placed on both horse and rider and the important role bodywork plays in maintaining soundness and long-term wellness.
Believing that the horse communicates through movement and posture, Sarah uses her hands as her greatest tool to identify tension, restriction, and compensation patterns before they progress into larger issues.
Sarah works with horses across a wide range of disciplines, from competitive performance horses to pasture companions. Her approach is grounded in patience, compassion, and respect for each horse’s individual needs.
At Artios Equine Bodywork, our goal is simple: to support whole horse harmony through balance, comfort, and freedom of movement.
